is pleased to announce the 2014-2015 Iraq Biosciences Fellowship
Program (IBFP).
IBFP is a
non-degree-seeking program that provides the opportunity for highly qualified
Iraqi biological scientists, researchers, epidemiologists and experts from the
government laboratories under the Ministry of Health and Ministry of
Agriculture to spend three to six months working alongside biological
scientists, researchers and professionals in the United States of America.
All
applicants are required to have advanced English language proficiency.
The program
will only consider applications from scientists, researchers and
epidemiologists working at government-operated biological sciences laboratories
and research facilities under the Ministry of Health and Ministry of
Agriculture. Selection preference will be given to experts in the biological
sciences, public health sector, and animal health sector, with current work and
experience in the following general areas:
- Especially dangerous human, animal and
zoonotic infectious diseases
- Research focused on pathogens of security
concern
- Modern infectious disease diagnostic
techniques
- Epidemiological surveillance and reporting
of especially dangerous infectious diseases of humans and animals
- Application and institutionalization of
internationally accepted principles and best practices of biosafety,
biosecurity and bioethics
- Application and institutionalization of
One Health principles and approaches
- Detection, diagnostics and reporting of
especially dangerous infectious diseases caused by pathogens of security
concern
CRDF Global
will award up to 20 fellowships. Travel, lodging and living stipends will be
provided for all fellows for the duration of their fellowships. Fellows will be
placed at U.S. universities, private companies, national laboratories or other
U.S. institutions. Fellows should expect to arrive in the U.S. in January 2015.
Individuals seeking acceptance into the program must complete an application in
English and submit required supporting documents. Participation in the program
will also depend on the identification of a suitable host, medical clearance
and eligibility for a U.S. J-1 visa. To be considered, applicants must
currently reside in Iraq.
