UNIL Master's Grants

Masters scholarships are scholarships for excellence awarded exclusively to students who have graduated from a foreign university and whose academic results are of a very high level.

UNIL grants around ten scholarships a year.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship in UK in 2018

Scholarships are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. 

The Smith Family Care2Achieve Scholarship for Young Women Leaving Care 2017

In 2016, The Smith Family received important funding from the Queensland Government which has enabled it to expand its existing Learning for Life Tertiary Scholarship Scheme and create the Care2Achieve Scholarship for Young Women Leaving Care.

With the Government’s support we can now provide scholarships to young women who are transitioning from Queensland State care and who are looking to undertake a higher education pathway. Transition to work is an important component of the Care2Achieve Scholarship. We aim to provide all eligible Scholarship recipients with access to a mentor as they approach their final year of study. Places for the Care2Achieve Scholarship are limited.
All candidates will need to complete an application and attend an interview. Applicants will be assessed on their commitment to study, capacity to achieve, and the demonstration of clear goals.

University of Queensland Science International Scholarships in Australia in 2018

Two different scholarships are available:
* The Full Degree Scholarship is awarded to students enrolling in year one of a UQ Faculty of Science full degree program and is a single payment of AU$10,000
* The Advanced Standing Scholarship is awarded to students enrolling in a UQ Faculty of Science program with advanced standing (credit articulation), for example on the basis of previous study at a Polytechnic, and is a single payment of AU$3,000.

Sheffield Hallam Transform Together Scholarships in UK in 2018

Transform Together Scholarships are exclusively for international and European Union (non-UK) students starting a full-time taught course in 2017/18. A half fee waiver (50% discount) is available for postgraduate courses and for each year of an undergraduate degree.

Scholarships are awarded to students who can demonstrate excellent academic achievement. Applicants also need to describe how they will stand out from the crowd as an ambassador for Sheffield Hallam University during and after their studies.

PhD Scholarship in solid-state ion conductors for next-generation batteries at Curtin University in Australia

This Research-only PhD is directed towards designing, synthesising, and characterising new ionic conductors to be used as solid-state electrolytes in next-generation batteries. New boron-based inorganic compounds will be synthesised by wet-chemical approaches under inert gas conditions (Schlenk techniques). i.e. MgB10H10 and ZnB12H12. The materials will be characterised to determine their crystal structure, material properties, and ion conductivity. The PhD will be conducted within the Fuels and Energy Technology Institute (FETI) at Curtin University, which is equipped with an array of world-class research equipment and facilities. You will specialise in materials chemistry, X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and other characterisation techniques. A 6-month visit to an overseas laboratory will be strongly encouraged during the PhD.

PhD Position at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences of KU Leuven University in Belgium

The Faculty of Engineering Sciences of KU Leuven University (Belgium) has an opening for a fully funded PhD position with a research theme that relates to the emerging practice of robotic architecture, robotic fabrication, robots in architecture. Its research requires the cross-disciplinary synthesis of knowledge from architectural design, human-computer interaction and robotics. The overall aim is to develop new kinds of interfaces that facilitate the iterative design of true-size, physical objects of architectural elements via interactive robotic actuation. More specifically, we will create new “human-prototype” interfaces that are embodied via the physical prototype itself, rather than using the common approach of 3D modeling and/or virtual simulation.

Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP)

The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) promote capacity building within organisations in 51 countries by providing fellowships for training and education for professionals. The NFP is initiated and fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the budget for development cooperation.

The NFP has three sub programmes for individual fellowships:
  • Short courses
  • Master’s degree programmes
  • PhD studies
In addition, there are seperate funds for tailor-made training courses and alumni activities.

Aim of the NFP
The NFP aims to help increase both the number and the competencies of skilled staff at a wide range of government and non-government organisations.
Each embassy has its own focus area to support the development goals of the Netherlands in each NFP country. The overall objective is to spend 35% of the budget on grants and study programmes in food security and private sector development.

The fellowships are further prioritised as follows:
  • 50% of the budget is for applications from Sub Saharan Africa.
  • 50% of fellowships has to be awarded to female applicants.
The fellowship
An NFP fellowship is intended to supplement the salary that the fellow should continue to receive during the study period. The allowance is a contribution towards the costs of living, the costs of tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance and thesis research. If applicable, the fellowship holder is expected to cover the difference between the actual costs and the amount of the personal NFP allowances.
The fellowships are awarded in a very competitive selection to highly motivated professionals who are in a position to introduce the newly-acquired skills and knowledge into their employing organisation.

For whom?
The NFP is meant for professionals who are nationals of and work and live in one of the 51 NFP countries. The countries have been classified into two categories (I and II). Category I countries are priority countries and will receive more fellowships.
Candidates have to be nominated by their employer to be eligible for the fellowship. There also has to be a clear need for training within the context of the organisation.



Zeqr Scholarship in Australia in 2017

The annual Zeqr Scholarship award is for students who are currently enrolled as a high school or college/university student within the United States.

The applicant of the winning project will receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000, which may be applied to the following school-related expenses: tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board.

DAAD University Winter Courses in Germany for Foreign Students and Graduatees

This study programme is geared towards students and graduates from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Namibia, New Zealand, Paraguay, Peru, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Uruguay and aims to help them improve their knowledge of German (general language, special language) and their cultural knowledge of the country.

What can be funded?
  • The programme funds attendance of language and area studies courses that are offered by state or state-recognised German universities and by affiliated language schools.
  • You can find out about course providers and course programmes on the DAAD website under: www.daad.de/hwk-kursliste
  • The courses are taught in German.
  • Course fees and accommodation expenses are usually deducted directly from scholarship payments by the language course provider so that the grant holder is paid only the remaining amount to which he/she may still be entitled in Germany.

RMIT University International Tuition Fee Scholarships in Australia





RMIT offers two international tuition fee scholarships: the RTP International Fee Offset Scholarship (RIFOS) and the RMIT Research International Tuition Fee Scholarship (RRITFS).

RIFOS scholarships are funded by the Australian Government and RRITFS scholarships are funded by RMIT University. When you apply for a research scholarship through one of the University’s rounds, you will automatically be considered for all the scholarships for which you are eligible.

Durham University is delighted to confirm that at least 35 Postgraduate Taught Scholarships, worth £3,000, will be available to applicants commencing with the University in October 2017.
