The Gender and Women's Studies Research Center at Kadir Has University invites applications for a nine month Doctoral Residency Fellowship starting in the Fall semester of 2015- 2016 academic year.
We are interested in interdisciplinary proposals that engage gender and women's studies in both theory and practice. While we will consider all relevant proposals, we will give special attention to those that deal with aspects related to gender and the status of women in Turkey.
The Gender and Women's Studies Research Center is a space for interdisciplinary research and teaching on topics related to gender and women's studies. The main goal of the Center to critically re-examine discussions of equality and gender as they pertain to the status of women, while bearing in mind that the field is not limited to male and female prototypes but also includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.
The Center provides to fellows affiliation, working space, and library and other resources of the university while conducting their research in Istanbul, in the stimulating environment of Kadir Has University, located in the historical peninsula with rich cultural and artistic constellation of institutions nearby. This is a non-salaried position. During their residency the fellows are expected to give public lectures under the guise of the Center, publish an aspect of their research in the Center’s publication series and participate in the Center’s activities.
The applicant should send a cover letter, full academic CV, transcript, dissertation research proposal (not more than 8 pages single space), and the names of two references. The applicants should be ABDs (All but Dissertation) and/or carrying out their fieldwork/research.
The selected fellows, as affiliates of the Center, will have the right to apply for funding from TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey).
