The David Mayes Scholarship





The scholarship is intended for students who plan to undertake research in the field of silicon chip design. Research should not be weapons related but rather should be aimed at promoting, protecting and enhancing life.

The value of the award is £2,500 and is tenable in the School of Engineering for a maximum of three years.

Eligibility
The scholarship is awarded to an MPhil/PhD student intending to study in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.

Criteria
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain the international equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.

Within their application, applicants should submit details of their research project and demonstrate how their project will fulfil the aims of the scholarship.

Applying
To apply for a scholarship you must first apply for admission for an eligible programme of study at the University of Edinburgh.

Once you have applied for admission you will receive your University Username (UUN). Your UUN is the letter 's' followed by your matriculation number; for example, s0987654.
Only applicants who have received an offer of admission (conditional or unconditional) on the closing date of the scholarship will be considered by the panel.

Eligible students should complete an online scholarship application before the application deadline of 27 March 2015.
