To
support our students who are funding their own studies, EBS is offering
scholarships worth £5,000 to students seeking to join our MBA course in October
2014.
Awards
will be made on the basis of grades obtained in your first degree, so all our
MBA course applications, received by the given deadline, will automatically be
considered for this scholarship. A fee discount of £5,000 will be applied to
those who are selected for the award. Up to 20 scholarships are available for
2014 entrants.
Eligibility
- The award is restricted to Home
(UK), EU and overseas students who are entirely self-funded. It is not
available to students who are fully or partly sponsored.
- All MBA course applicants who
hold the equivalent of a UK first class honours Bachelor's degree (see
below for equivalencies) and an IELTS score of 7.0 or higher will
automatically receive a scholarship.
- MBA course applicants with the
following qualifications will also be considered for a scholarship by the
MBA Director and MBA Deputy Director, if numbers permit:
- the equivalent of a UK 2.1
Bachelor's degree and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5*; or
- ten years' work experience
(including five years' relevant managerial experience) and a minimum
IELTS score of 6.5.*
- Only one scholarship award can
be made per student and the award cannot normally be held in conjunction
with other University of Essex scholarships.
- Where a student to whom a
scholarship has been offered requests deferred entry, the award will be
considered again in line with the terms and conditions that apply in the
new proposed year of entry.
- The award is available to
full-time students and also to part-time and modular students on a pro
rata basis.
How
do I apply?
- These scholarships will be
awarded on the basis of merit as set out above and all academic
applications will automatically be considered.
- The University will use
official transcripts and certificates, submitted as part of the original
application for admission to the course, as evidence of grades achieved
and no alternative supporting evidence will be accepted.
- Applicants who have accepted an
offer of a place firmly by 31 July and met the academic conditions of
entry will be considered for these scholarships. Applications submitted
after that date, and from students who do not meet the eligibility
criteria for an automatic MBA scholarship award, may be considered
depending on availability of funds.
- Applicants may be offered a
scholarship during the admissions process and before the deadline of 31
July for firm acceptance. Applicants who are offered the scholarship must
confirm their acceptance of the scholarship by paying a one-third tuition
fee deposit by 31 May 2014, or within 30 days of receiving their formal
scholarship offer if the date of the offer letter issued by the University
is after 1 May. The scholarship offer may be withdrawn if candidates do
not keep to this deadline.
- Where a scholarship offer is
made to an applicant who has not yet met the academic conditions of the
offer, the applicant can secure the scholarship by paying a one-third
tuition fee deposit. Where an applicant fails to meet the conditions of
the offer and his or her place is not confirmed, the tuition fee deposit
will be refunded and the scholarship award will be rescinded.
