The Sydney TAFE International Student Scholarship





The Sydney TAFE International Student Scholarship is a partial scholarship for students studying a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree course (minimum 1.5 years in duration).


The scholarship of $2,000 will be credited towards your tuition fee on your third semester of studies. Sydney TAFE courses combine theory and practical experience so students are equipped with the right skills and knowledge to compete in the global market. The Scholarship is competitive and a limited number will be awarded to future applicants who satisfy the Eligibility Criteria, demonstrate their academic achievements and successfully address the Selection Criteria.

What Does the Scholarship Not Cover?
The Sydney TAFE International Student Scholarship does NOT provide financial support in the form of a living allowance, nor does it provide for the cost of visa application, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), airfares, accommodation or other costs associated with study.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship applicants must:
Be an international student and have been offered to study a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree course with a minimum of 1.5 years duration at Sydney TAFE.
Commence studies in Sydney TAFE in 2016 or 2017.
Not be a family member or relative of a Sydney TAFE employee or TAFE NSW.
Have met Sydney TAFE’s academic and English requirements for the course to be considered for a scholarship.

Terms and Conditions
Commencement of the course may not be deferred.
Sydney TAFE reserves the right not to award all or some of the scholarships in a given year.
Scholarships are not transferrable to other international students or Institutes.
Recipients must maintain satisfactory attendance and progress in the first two semesters of their studies. If satisfactory attendance and progress are not met the scholarship may be withdrawn.  
Satisfactory progress is defined as passing all subjects in each semester.
Must not be enrolled at any TAFE NSW program. Must not have completed the same or a higher level of studies previously.
Must not have received another award or scholarship.

Selection Criteria
The recipient will be selected on the basis of:
Reasons for applying for Sydney TAFE International Student Scholarship.
Academic merit in the qualification used as basis of admission into Sydney TAFE programs.
Other achievements, leadership skills, volunteer work and contributions.
Personal Statement.

Assessment Process
Scholarship applications will be assessed by a Sydney TAFE Selection Committee which will include a minimum of three staff. Consideration will be given to an applicant’s responses against the selection criteria, reference checks and any supporting documentation submitted, including academic transcripts. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The Selection Committee’s decision is final.
