BIGSSS-HWK Visiting Fellowship

The BIGSSS-HWK Visiting Fellowship is an international researcher mobility program offering a 6-month research stay at two renowned academic institutions in the social sciences: The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (HWK) and at the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences BIGSSS).

The program supports excellent research of outstanding scholars in the social sciences who will benefit from exceptional intellectual and research conditions. They enjoy both the stimulating environment of a multi
disciplinary and international community of firstrate scholars and a graduate school with an outstanding faculty, innovative teaching concepts as well as an international body of bright Ph.D. postdoctoral students.

We expect our visiting fellows to participate in regular activities of the HWK and to engage in doctoral education/supervision at BIGSSS including teaching a minimum of one course and taking actively part in the regular research colloquium. Presence at both institutes is expected. The BIGSSSHWK Visiting Fellowship offers financial support, accommodation and partial reimbursement of travel expenses.

The BIGSSSHWK Visiting Fellowship welcomes applications worldwide from promising postdoctoral scholars as well as from leading senior researchers. The integration of most major socialscience disciplines into one school is a key asset of BIGSSS, its umbrella theme being “Changing Patterns of Social and Political Integration“(find out more at www.bigsssbremen.de/academicprogram). Applicants holding a Ph.D. either in Political Science, Sociology, Psychology or one of the neighboring disciplines (law, history, economics) need to be able to relate to one of BIGSSS' three thematic fields:

Welfare State, Inequality and Quality of Life
Changing Lives in Changing SocioCultural Contexts.
