The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program provides
support to young researchers working in academic and research institutions from
eligible countries preparing a doctoral thesis.
Research
grants cover residence costs for a 5 to 10 month period in a renowned
university or research center. Fellows are expected to advance their research
work mainly by using the facilities and resources provided by the host
institution and by interacting with peers.
Up to US$25,000 for a 5-10 month period between December
2013 and November 2014 for travel and conduct PhD studies / research at a
university of a World Bank member country. The research proposal must be
endorsed by her/his PhD thesis advisor. Upon completion of the program McNamara
fellows return to their home country for work.
Core
Eligibility Criteria:

45 years old or under
·
Home country is a developing country
·
Currently enrolled in a PhD program that is
located outside their home country and in a member country of the World Bank.
·
Professional ties to academic or research
institutions located in their home country, indicating intent / commitment to
return home after attaining PhD.
·
Have a master’s degree.

Completed application packages must be postmarked on or before July 31, 2013 and
mailed to World Bank Institute Scholarship Program at the World Bank in
Washington, D.C., as stated in application guidelines.
Up to 15
awards will be announced in November 2013.
