The K.G.Jebsen Inflammation Research Centre (JIRC) is a virtual research
centre funded by the Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Foundation, the University of Oslo
(UiO) and Oslo University Hospital (OUH). It will start 2013 with funding for 4
years and the prospect of another funding period. JIRC has the intention to
excel in inflammation research. The centre comprises the research groups of 8
principal investigators and 2 co-investigators as well as several associated
clinical investigators at several departments within the UiO/OUH Medical
Campus. The research environment is very dynamic and there is extensive
interaction between the groups.
Two 3- year PhD Fellowships (SKO 1017) are available in the researchgroup of Professor Guttorm Haraldsen.
Our group has research activities to
understand the biology of interleukin-33, Notch signalling in vascular
function, and the development of fibrosis. PhD project #1 will focus on
understanding how Notch signalling affects the activation status of vascular
endothelial cells in the context of inflammation. PhD project #2 is designed to
understand how alarmin production is driven by viral infections. These projects
will be performed in collaborations with PIs of the centre and international
collaborators.
