The Louis Dreyfus – Weidenfeld Scholarship and Leadership Programme
Scheme supports outstanding postgraduate students from transition and emerging
economies throughout Africa, Asia and South America.
Eligibility
Candidates should
be applying to start a new graduate course at Oxford. They should also be
intending to return to their countries or regions of origin once their courses
are completed.

Eligible
candidates must hold an undergraduate degree and be an ordinary resident of a
country in Africa, Asia or South America. The Louis Dreyfus - Weidenfeld
Scholarship and Leadership Programme targets future leaders pursuing diverse
careers within the agro-business sector with a focus on improving food security
and sustainability. Successful applicants must demonstrate an interest in
serving the global community through their chosen field of work, including but
not limited to, agriculture, health care, environmental and water management,
economic, public and foreign policy.

Applicants should
be able to demonstrate a connection between their subject of study and their
longer-term career objectives, explaining how they see their professional work
contributing to the improvement of public life in their countries of origin or
at a wider regional or international level.
This scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other awards. Students currently at Oxford are not eligible to apply unless they are already Weidenfeld Scholars.

Scholarship
value
100% of
university and college fees, and a grant for living costs (the rate in 2012-13
was £13,590).
Awards are made
for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course. If
your scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the
continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to review based on
satisfactory academic progress.
Scholarship
application
Apply at the same
time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Weidenfeld Scholarships and Leadership
Programme in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form.
Candidates should apply by Application Deadline 2 (04 January 2013 for Medical
Sciences and Politics & International Relations; 18 January 2013 for all
other subjects).
In order to be
considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate
study by the January deadline above and have secured a place on your chosen
programme of study by the expected final decision date (13 March 2013).
Applications with outstanding admissions decisions after this date, or
applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline, are not
eligible for scholarship consideration.
