The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program
provides scholarships to high school students from countries with significant
Muslim populations to spend up to one academic year in the United States.
During the program, YES students live with American host families and are
enrolled in accredited U.S. high schools.
Students live with host families, attend high school, engage
in activities to learn about American society and values, acquire leadership
skills, and help educate Americans about their countries and cultures.
Eligibility and application requirements:
High school student (between 15 and 17 years old) from one of
the countries or territories listed below and are interested in applying to
study in the United States are invited to apply.
Eligible Countries: Albania, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Egypt, Gaza, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Israel,
Jordan, Kenya, Lesotho, Kuwait, Lebanon, Liberia, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mali,
Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia,
Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Suriname, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia,
Turkey, West Bank and Tunisia.
YES supports students with disabilities and encourages their
participation. Since 2003, ECA has worked with Mobility International USA (MIUSA) to provide
students with disabilities with leadership-building workshops and resources and
support that enhances their year in the United States.
