Scholarships and Financial Aid for International Students at the University of Oregon, USA

Several sources of financial aid to international students exist at the University of Oregon at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Each year the University of Oregon awards more than $1 million in financial aid and scholarships to international students.

Below is a list of financial aid and scholarship opportunities for international students. Both international students and domestic freshman students who apply by January 15 are automatically considered for the GeneralUniversity Scholarship Program.

International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) Tuition Scholarships
The ICSPscholarship awards 30–40 competitive scholarships to international students each year. Scholarships apply to tuition only and range from $7,000–$27,000 per year. The ICSP scholarship has a cultural service component that requires students to give presentations about their home country to children, community organizations, and UO students, faculty, and staff. ICSP scholarships are based on financial need, academic merit, and the ability to make presentations to diverse groups of people. ICSP scholarships are renewable. To apply, complete the ICSP application before January 15.

ICSP Nascence Scholarship
This supplemental scholarship is awarded to a student from China or Hong Kong who is also a recipient of the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) scholarship. No additional application is required.

International Dean’s Excellence Award (IDEA) for New International Students
The IDEA scholarship is a merit-based, partial-tuition scholarship awarded to new international undergraduate applicants entering in the fall (September). All international students who apply for admission by January 15 are considered for this award. A separate application is not required. The scholarship is valued at $6,000–$8,000 each and is renewable based on academic performance.

New freshmen applicants entering in the fall (September) who have completed the full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma will automatically receive the full award amount of the IDEA scholarship.

International Student Work-Study Program
This program grants more than 50 work-study awards, ranging from $500–$3,000 each year, to eligible international students with financial need. Students who receive these awards can compete for on-campus work-study jobs during the academic year. Students are not guaranteed on-campus jobs, but opportunities for on-campus employment will increase. To be considered, complete the application by April 15.
