The Curtin Humanitarian Fund has been developed by Curtin University to support Curtin undergraduate students who have entered Australia under refugee-like conditions and are experiencing financial difficulty in meeting costs of pursuing higher education.
The Fund is in accordance with Curtin’s long-standing, formal commitment to Ethics and Social Justice.

Scholarship value
The scholarship will provide a range of awards with a minimum of $1,000 cash payment to support educational costs. The award amount will be depending on the circumstances of the individual recipient and the annual availability of funds. This amount will be paid pro rata if the student's semester study load is less than 100 credits.
The university reserves the right to reduce the amount of assistance provided by the Scholarship award where applicants are in receipt of other scholarships.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Curtin Humanitarian Fund Scholarship:
International citizen
Currently reside within Australia
Enrolling or enrolled in an undergraduate degree at Curtin University in 2015
Be from a refugee-like background, or the relative of such a person, who experienced forced migration and may have entered Australia in a number of ways including:
Off-shore approved Refugee or Humanitarian entrant
Onshore, community based Asylum Seeker or refugee
Temporary Protection Visa holder
Family Reunion
Financial hardship
Conditions that need to be met to keep your scholarship
Remain enrolled in initial course of study
Maintain enrolment each semester at Curtin University
Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50 each semester
Fail no more than one unit attempted each semester
Scholarship continuity is subject to meeting satisfactory academic progress as outlined above. Progress will be assessed at the end of each study period. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, a recipient with unsatisfactory progress or who breaches the scholarship conditions shall be ineligible to retain the scholarship. Exceptional circumstances must be forwarded to and shall be at the discretion of the Scholarships Office.
