The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is pleased to announce the call for proposals for the 2015 ACSBI Fellowships.
The ACSBI offers a 12 months fellowship with a value of USD50,000 for beginning investigators. Preference will be given to projects with potential benefit to low- and middle-income countries.
WHAT
- 12 month international fellowship

AIMS
- To foster a bi-directional flow of research knowledge, experience, expertise, and innovation between countries
- To support the promotion of cancer control in developing countries through epidemiology, cancer control and other areas of cancer research
- To advance the academic career development of beginning cancer investigators through translational, clinical, behavioural or population research projects
WHO
Beginning investigators or clinicians:
- Who possess a terminal, advanced degree in their field
- Who hold an academic university or hospital position with an explicit commitment to return to their home institute
- In the early phases of their career as an independent investigator and no longer under research mentoring
WHY
Former Grantees report:
- Knowledge and research skills were significantly increased, thus preparing them to better compete internationally
- Publications with their Host mentors resulted from their ACSBI Fellowship research
- Mentoring received in the Host Institutions was extremely important and very effective for their subsequent professional development
- Ability to obtain research funding is increased upon return to their home institution
