Google is seeking applications for the Anita Borg Memorial
Scholarship: Europe, the Middle East and Africa aimed at encouraging women to
excel in computing and technology, and become active role models and leaders.
This scholarship was established to honor the legacy of
Anita Borg and her efforts to encourage women to pursue careers in computer
science and technology.
Google is offering multiple scholarships that will be
awarded based on candidates’ academic performance, leadership experience and
demonstrated passion for computer science.
From among the applicants, a group of female Bachelors,
Masters, and PhD student finalists will be chosen making each of them eligible
to receive a scholarship amounting €7,000 (or equivalent).
The scholarship recipients and finalists will get an
opportunity to visit a Google office in Europe during In June 2012 for a
networking retreat. The visit will comprise of workshops with a series of
speakers, panels, breakout sessions and social activities, providing all the
finalists an opportunity to meet and share their experiences.
Eligibility
requirements
Candidates must:
Be a female
student enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters or PhD program (or equivalent) in
2012/2013.
Be enrolled at a University
in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa. Citizens, permanent residents, and
international students are eligible to apply.
Be studying
Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a closely related
technical field.
Maintain an excellent
academic record (e.g. a First Class Honors degree).
Last date for submission of applications is February 1,
2012.
