Southampton Business School has
studentships available for postgraduate research students admitted full-time
onto its PhD programme and commencing their studies in October 2018. The
studentships will last for a maximum of three years (subject to an annual
review of progress) and will provide a maintenance allowance of £14,000 per
annum, in addition to payment of tuition fees at home/EU level or international
level as determined by the University.
The Department of Banking and Finance seeks
to recruit excellent PhD students to conduct research in Empirical
Banking. Our PhD students play a very important role in the department in
propelling forward novel research at the same time as their own career
potential. For example, a number of our PhD students gain internships at the
IMF and at the Bank of England. Staff in the department have a wealth of
experience publishing in these areas and now wish to incorporate new empirical
banking research into any area of bank risk management and bank profitability
in a low interest rate environment.
Research in this subject area is currently
undertaken by members of the Department of Banking and Finance and the
related Centre for Banking Finance and Sustainable Development
(CBFSD) and Computational Finance and Business Analytics (CFBA)
