Earthwatch is offering its annual opportunity for funded training and mentoring in organisational and business management practices to protected areas in Africa. The application period is now open until 26 February 2016.
Earthwatch and its Earth Skills Network are looking to recruit 6 protected areas, who will each nominate 3 members of staff for a training programme. The training includes a 10 day residential training course in November 2015 in South Africa, followed by a 12 month period of business planning, which is supported by Earthwatch and an experienced business mentor recruited from the private sector.
The ESN training programmes are available to IUCN Natural Protected Areas, UNESCO World Heritage Sites (includes sites on the tentative list), Protected Area Agencies and Management Authorities.
The participants are fully funded by Earthwatch. The language of training is English.
The Earth Skills Network (ESN) is a unique collaboration between Earthwatch, UNESCO, IUCN and the business community. It connects leaders from the business and conservation community through mentoring and skill-sharing opportunities, seeking to support protected areas in managing their human and financial capital more effectively in order to deliver better conservation outcomes.
