Postdoctoral Position in Design, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship





The New Venture Creation & Growth –research team (NVCG) in Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) is currently seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position to undertake research in Design, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.


We expect the selected individual to join the research team for the 2014-15 academic year (starting date flexible). This is a fixed-term full-time position for 12 months, renewable once.

A post-doc is expected to focus primarily on research, building collaborative projects with GEM faculty, and teaching around 90h a year. We are looking for a promising young researchers actively engaged in empirical and theoretical research in the area of design, innovation and entrepreneurship. The Postdoc is expected to perform and publish research that reaches the highest international standards in research.

Main Activities/Tasks
Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Design are key research domains at GEM. Within the NVCG research team, the candidate will actively investigate how entrepreneurs and designers generate, design and develop breakthrough ideas of products/services. In particular, the candidate will develop theoretical models that better explain designers thinking and reasoning. In addition to this, the candidate would investigate the new practices and the management principles that enable firms to organize the exploration of unfamiliar domains. Teaching activities focus on innovation and entrepreneurship at a maximum of 90h/year.

Specific Skills
  • A good knowledge of the current literature regarding innovation, new product development, creativity and cognition.
  • Strong abilities to conduct and analyze innovation and design process in natural and laboratory settings. 
  • Mastering qualitative and/or quantitative research methodology
  • A strong background in design research methods (latent semantic analysis/WordNet or other information retrieval approaches, linkography, protocol analysis…) and engineering sciences (modelisation, simulation…) would be appreciated.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants should have obtained their PhD degree in Management Science or equivalent (maximum three years ago). Applicants with PhD in another discipline must demonstrate significant academic activities in the field of management or organization studies.
