The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is accepting
applications for the 2014 Mini-Fellowship Program for International Scholars.
The goal of this program is to provide practical
training in clinical sleep medicine to international physicians from
lower-income countries who have no or minimal experience in sleep medicine, so
they may develop or improve sleep health care and clinical research in this
field in their respective home countries.
The International Mini-fellowship Program consists
of a 5-week training program. The first week of the program will be spent at
the SLEEP 2014 Annual Meeting where the fellowship participants will have an
opportunity to attend up to 2 full-day postgraduate courses and a variety of
general sessions. The meeting will also allow the fellows to meet and network
with AASM members and faculty, as well as sleep industry leaders. The next four
weeks will be spent at an AASM-accredited U.S. sleep center, involving hands-on
teaching and training for the fellow.
Up to ten candidates will be selected for
participation in the 2014 program. Participants must be certified physicians,
with minimal experience in sleep medicine. The deadline to apply is November 4,
2013.
