University of Western Australia offers Scholarships for
International Research Fees (SIRFs) for international students. These
scholarships are offered to undertake the degree of Masters by Research or
Doctor of Philosophy in Australia.
Application for a scholarship is also an
application for admission to the University.
The aim of the UWA SIRF scheme is to attract top quality
international postgraduate students to areas in which the University has
specialised research strengths and to support Australia's research effort.
Successful applicants can expect to become members of a research team working
under the direction of senior researchers and in an area which has attracted
external resources.
Criteria
Applications for SIRF scholarships are rated according tot
he following criteria: (a) Academic achievement; (b) English languate achievement;
(c) Research training achievement; and (d) Proposed research environment.
Allocation of scholarships is the outcome of a competitive ranking and
selection process in which applications are scored and ranked by Schools,
Faculties and the University Scholarships Committee, according to these common
criteria on the basis of evidence provided.
Scholarship value
The scholarship provides course tuition fees and standard
health cover only for each semester of the course in line with the scholarship
tenure and conditions. The basis of selection of award is academic achievement.
Applications must be sent by the online application process by 31st January
2013.
