CIFR/CMCRC Honours Scholarship Program





The Centre for International Finance and Regulation (CIFR) and the Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre (CMCRC) are offering a prestigious opportunity for up to 10 students with a demonstrated interest in financial regulation.


What does the CIFR / CMCRC Honours Scholarship offer?
The CIFR / CMCRC scholarship not only provides a scholarship grant of up to $15,000* but will also provide each selected student with:
  • valuable industry exposure;
  • individualised feedback on their work;
  • invitations to exclusive CIFR events; and
  • the opportunity to present their work to a senior audience.
     
How are the recepients selected?
The scholarships will be awarded based on:
  • the academic merit of the student, including their potential to pursue a research-based career;
  • the relevance of their proposed research project to CIFR’s research agenda; and
  • the potential of the proposed research project to deliver useful outcomes.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this Scholarship, candidates must be:
  • currently studying an Undergraduate or Master’s degree and eligible to enter an Honours or equivalent research programin:
     
    • Accounting
    • Actuarial Studies
    • Economics
    • Finance or
    • Law
       
  • currently studying in CIFR consortium universities:
     
    • UNSW Australia
    • The University of Sydney
    • University of Technology, Sydney
    • Macquarie University
    • The Australian National University
    • The University of Melbourne
       
  •  undertaking research relevant to financial market regulators and other industry participants.

International Students are encouraged to apply

Conditions of Award
  • Scholarship recipients must acknowledge the support of CIFR in their research paper and any publications relating to this work.
     
  • If a scholarship recipient wishes to substantially modify their research project, they must seek approval from CIFR before implementing the change.
     
  • Submission of an electronic copy of the student’s completed written report is required by a specified date (for the 2015 program this date is 14 November 2015), unless an extension is agreed in advance.
     
  • CIFR may require scholarship recipients to present their findings to CIFR’s stakeholders and / or attend other CIFR events.  These events will be held in Sydney and CIFR will cover reasonable travel costs for interstate recipients.
