University of Sussex PhD Scholarships in the Department of Informatics (2014), UK

The School of Engineering and Informatics is offering six Scholarship places for entry in September 2014.


Three Scholarships will be made available in each department: Engineering and Design, and Informatics.
Applicants with research interests that span both Departments are particularly welcome. Scholarships will normally include a three-year stipend at standard postgraduate rates (currently £13,726 per annum). Other fee and stipend arrangements are negotiable depending on the individual circumstances of applicants (e.g., to augment partial awards or funds from elsewhere). Recipients of Scholarships will be required to work closely with academic staff on standard teaching duties for a small proportion of their time.

Applicants may choose to make their own research proposal or apply under a topic specific project proposed by a member of the department's faculty. Specific project proposals are available via:

If you choose to write your own research proposal you may wish to look at the research areas of the Informatics department which include the following areas:
• Cognitive and Language Processing Systems
• Evolutionary and Adaptive Systems
• Foundations of Software Systems
• Interactive Systems

Award amount: £13,726 per annum plus full-time fees at UK/EU rates

Eligibility
Applicants should have an excellent Bachelor degree or a Masters degree (or International equivalent), relevant to the field of study.
