Call for Applications: 2015 Small Grants Programme for Thesis Writing

The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) is pleased to announce the twenty-sixth session of its Small Grants Programme for Thesis Writing.

The grants serve as part of the Council’s contribution to the development of the social sciences in Africa, and the continuous renewal and strengthening of research capacities in African universities, through the funding of primary research conducted by graduate and postgraduate students. Hence, candidates whose applications are successful are encouraged to use the resources provided under the grants to cover the cost of their fieldwork, the acquisition of books and documents, the processing of data which they have collected and the printing of their theses/dissertations.

WWF Conservation Workshop Grants

Conservation Workshop Grants fund organizations to train communities, stakeholders, park guards, and others on local and regional conservation issues. These grants support training workshops with a strong hands-on learning component that will build capacity for people living in WWF priority places in select countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Local organizations from select WWF-US priority countries must meet all of the eligibility criteria to be considered for a grant.

African Peacebuilding Network Individual Research Grants

The African Peacebuilding Network (APN) of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) invites research grant applications from African researchers, policy analysts, and practitioners working on conflict and peacebuilding issues at universities and research institutions or regional governmental and nongovernmental organizations in Africa.

Tim Hetherington Grant

World Press Photo and Human Rights Watch are delighted to invite all photojournalists, documentary photographers and multimedia producers around the world to apply for the fourth annual Tim Hetherington Grant.

The grant, worth 20,000 euro, is intended for the support of a visual storyteller in completing an existing project on a human rights theme. The entries close on 31 October and the announcement of the recipient will be made in New York City on 10 December.

The Deborah J. Norden Fund 2014, USA

The Deborah J. Norden Fund awards up to $5,000 annually in travel and study grants to students and recent graduates in the fields of architecture, architectural history, and urban studies.

The Fund has supported a fascinating array of projects, from a study of the Cambodian modernist Vann Molyvann, to the social impact of new architecture and planning interventions in Medellin, Colombia, to the insertion of built form into fragile ecosystems in Australia, to the stereotomy of complex surfaces in French Baroque architecture.

2014 Reed Elsevier Environmental Challenge

The Reed Elsevier Environmental Challenge is awarded to projects that best demonstrate how they can provide sustainable access to safe water where it is presently at risk and/or access to improved sanitation. Projects must have clear practical applicability, address identified need, and advance related issues such as health, education, or human rights.
